Making It Somehow

I have spent the entire Sunday in low grade tachycardia despite my heart rate control medications and my cardiologist is not available until tomorrow but that is alright because I have left him a message on my chart. But I have no symptoms (Thank God for that) and my crisis point has been established as a heart rate from 130 to 140 beats on a sustained basis … that is emergency room territory but I am far from that right now. I will keep on monitoring on my handy-dandy little sonohealth ekg monitor graph device.

I have also been trying to communicate with the author of one of my favorite blogs, “Partnering With Eagles” and I have sent him an e-mail. Hope he is alright.

I made a wonderful beef stew in a dutch oven in the electric cook stove oven today — the beef was the most tender I have ever accomplished and the entire dish was smooth to the palate and absolutely delicious. I am so proud of myself and my best friend, Jimmy, absolute thought it was “Superlative.”

I didn’t go to church today and I have neither shaved nor bathed at this point so I am going to stop ruminating about myself and jump into that shower in just a few minutes from now.

It is 6:04 PM now and Jimmy is out in the massive living room here at the manor and I am in my bedroom with my thousand-dollar bed and I will soon get off the keyboard and go out and join Jim for an evening of television (telly) watching and maybe even a movie — we have shitload of movies on dvd movie discs … I purchase them used and a Hundred at a time and we must have nearly a thousand by now– We send the ones we don’t like to the Goodwill store or to the Veterans group that resells used merchandise like a thrift store.

Funniest thing… the man who has mowed the grass here at the manor for almost 30 years is getting old now and his mower smashes the grass down more than it cuts it — and I think that is hilarious — but we don’t want to hurt the poor soul’s feelings because he has been so faithful to cut our grass and at an extraordinarily fair price too.

I got a sticker shock today when I opened my new package of “Drumstick” ice cream cone novelties. It seems like what was once a rather generous large “Ball” of ice cream, covered with crushed peanuts on top of a waffle cone” has shrunk considerably– and I do mean shrunk and I do mean considerably! But there is no substitute for these “Nutty Buddies” so I will continue buying them until there is nothing left but the odor of ice cream and the delicious waffle cone.

  1. I hope you are feeling better….the stew sounds wonderful….I am a big fan of one pot cooking…..everything seems to be getting less these and for the same inflated money….have a good Sunday and enjoy your movies. chuq

  2. Most things are shrinking now. They call it ‘shrinkflation’ here, less stuff for the same price. Glad to hear that you didn’t need to go to hospital because of the tachycardia, and the beef casserole sounds good. I alwys use a Le Creuset casserole dish for beef, and cook it for a very long time in the oven on a low heat.
    Best wishes, Pete.
